Congratulations to Corey Taylor (Riverlakes Golf Club) who was the winner of the Pampling Plate for the trainees at Perigian Springs this week (15 Oct 09). This was a great effort considering it included 2 qualifying rounds followed by 3 days of match play, 36 holes per day. More...
Happy New Year!
Welcome to the new year, I hope everyone had a safe holiday. It is time for some of us to reset our goals for 2009 and to build on the strong work we have already achieved over 2008. We need to have a clear picture of what we would like to achieve and the steps to get there. It isn't easy to practice or play without knowing where you are headed. Whether it be in business or golf, having a plan for the next month, year, 3 years and beyond it is vitally important. This avoids confusion when the tuff times come about. When you look back and see you are on schedule or maybe a little ahead of schedule, it can be a reality check to make you realize that things aren't so bad.
Queensland Advanced Junior Clinic
I would like to personally congratulate Golf Queensland and the Juniors on their great work during the Queensland Advanced Junior Clinic which saw 42 junior boys and girls from all over Queensland and Northern NSW spend 3 days at the State Training Facility at Brookwater. There is some fantastic talent out there and I am proud to be part of the team that has the opportunity to work with them.
Video and Audio Drills for the Web Site
Exciting times for www.chrisgibsongolf.com for 2009. I am currently working on posting some drills for the web site with a good friend and the help of some QUT students. This will include video and audio for chipping/pitching, putting and full swing. This will make it easier for your practice to recall the drills that I would have suggested in lessons or corporate days.
Specialised Clinic coming to Vic Park
There will be specialised clinics coming up at Victoria Park Golf Complex including some ball and wedge fitting days with Titleist, short game clinics, specialized putting clinics, just to name a few. These sessions will be limited in numbers, keep an eye on the web site and I will let you know when to book in.
Player Achievements
Congratulations to all players who have succeeded in achieving and exceeding their goals for this season including:
Kacey Walker - reduced her handicap from 45 to 31 since March this year at Royal Qld
Frank Cunningham - won Division 4 net aggregate at Nudgee club champs and reduced 5 shots in 5 rounds
Lee Pocock - finished 5th in the first stage of the Australasian Tour School and won the Redland Bay Club Championship this year.
